You found the blog!
This is the very first blog post so I'm going to just tell you a bit about myself so we can get to know each other through a screen. I'm hoping to post weekly about relevant and interesting topics (the two don't necessarily go hand-in-hand, you know). Feel free to comment the topics you'd like to hear more about, if you want more activities or multi-media content or just to say hello!
So if you haven't found the "About" section to the website yet, don't fret, I'll distill it here. I have a B.A. in psychology and am almost done my Masters of Counselling through Athabasca University. I've worked in local non-profit organizations for the last 6 years, serving vulnerable populations of Edmonton. In the last 3 years, I've specialized in addictions and have seen the potential influence of preventative interventions so I'm hoping to specialize my practice for kidlets who have experienced trauma. I consider myself a spiritual person so I focus on many existential meanings in every situation, however comfortable you are with that.
On a personal note, I have a 1 year old puppy, Tucker, whom I love. My husband and I are training him to become a therapy dog so he just might sit in on a session or two. He is a Great Pyrenees but has the colouring of a Shepherd and a heart made of gold. He knows how to sit, stay, come, lay down, back up, hug, wave goodbye (most of the time) and to be adorable as ever.
That's all for now, see you next week!
